Abstract
English
We retrospectively analyzed the therapeutical outcome of patients with locally advanced rectal carcinoma, treated with postoperative radiochemotherapy. Our aim was to evaluate the efficiancy of the treatment performed at the Clinicum of Lüneburg in comparison to international literature. We used the data of 92 patients treated between 1997 and 2006 comparing their outcome on overall survival, disease-free-survival, local and distant recurrences and toxic side effects. The median follow -up time was 75 months. Points of comparison were 5 years after treatment. The overall five-year survival was 69%. The five-year rate of disease-free survival was 62%. Local relapse occured in 9,3% and distant recurrences in 35,4% of the cases.12 % of the patients suffered from toxic side effects III° and higher. 2,2% of the patients died due to late toxic effects. Our results show a treatment efficiancy which was comparable and in part superior to standarized international radiochemotherapy
