Neovascularization is one of the most important mechanisms for compensation of acute ischemic events. In this topic, monocytes play a key role in new vessel growth like arteriogenesis and angiogenesis. They can be divided into CD16+- and CD16--subsets. It is not known so far, which one of the monocyte subsets is responsable for the development of new arteries of pre-existing capillaries and we do not know how they influence this process. So it was the aim of this study to investigate the differences between monocyte subsets in arterio- and angiogenesis. Therefor we used the murine hindlimb-ischemia-model, analyzed the reperfusion rate via Laser-Doppler-imaging about 28 days and examined the differences of new vessel formation depending on monocyte subsets with and without Leptin-stimulation via immunofluorescence. Our results show that the count of arteries is reduced and the cross-sectional area of smooth muscle layer is bigger after application of CD16+-mo compared to CD16--mo. Further, after application of Leptin-stimulated monocyte subsets the count of capillaries was reduced as well. de
