What does this declaration apply to?
This accessibility statement applies to the website ediss.uni-goettingen.de and its subpages, i.e. also to every single publication.
Status of compatibility with the requirements
These web pages are partially compatible with the requirements of the harmonised European standard EN 301 549 V2.1.2 (08-2018). Some parts of the content do not yet fully comply with the accessibility standard. We are making efforts to continuously reduce the identified deficits and shortcomings.
Which areas are not fully accessible?
Content on the website that is not fully accessible:
- Not all documents and publications offered for download on the website are available in a fully accessible version. Primarily due to the large number of PDF documents made available that were created before 23.09.2018, it has not yet been possible to convert them into a fully accessible format.
- Subtitles/audio descriptions or transcriptions are not always available for embedded video and audio files, especially for older versions.
- It may happen that words and text sections occur in another language and are not labelled accordingly. Due to the large number of publications, disciplines and languages represented in eDiss, this is not always possible, especially with older publications.
Reasons for lack of accessibility
The eDiss server offers a wide range of dissertations, but also master and diploma theses as well as some habilitation theses which have been created at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen since 1995 as PDF file. Although these publications have been freely available online since the beginning, they were not produced with accessibility in mind at the time. To rework them in terms of accessibility, each would have to go through a careful scientific process again, for which the capacities are lacking. If there are errors in the preparation of our website content, we will endeavour to rectify them.
How can we fix barriers?
Do you require accessibility to our publications in order to read them or use them scientifically? If so, please feel free to contact us. In the case of recent publications we might be able to contact the author to obtain a fully accessible version. Unfortunately, we can only do this on request. Conciliation procedure
If you do not receive satisfactory answers from the above contact option, you can apply to the conciliation board, set up at the State Commissioner for People with Disabilities in Lower Saxony, to initiate conciliation proceedings in accordance with the Lower Saxony Disability Equality Act (NBGG). The conciliation board according to § 9d NBGG has the task of settling disputes between persons with disabilities and public bodies of Lower Saxony on the topic of accessibility in IT. The conciliation procedure is free of charge. There is no need to involve a legal advisor.
