| de |

dc.description.abstracteng | Within the scope of this thesis a photochromic system consisting of furo[2,3-d]furans and bis-quinonemethides was investigated. In the literature the known compounds of this system are converted in an irreversible side reaction to naphthofuranyl-naphthofurans. This reaction should not occur in bridgehead substituted furofurans. Fourteen of such furofurans were sythesized starting from the salicil-like 1,2-bis-(1-hydroxy-4-methoxy-naphthalen-2-yl)-ethane-1,2-dione, but none of them showed photochromic properties. With the help of density functional calculations the reason for the absence of photochromism was found: Substitution of the bridgeheads prevents an even arrangement of the bis-quinonemethide by steric effects and stabilization of the aromatic systems by conjugation. Furthermore, photochemical and thermic isomerizations of furofurans and bis-quinonemethides were investigated using the semiempiric method PM3, viewing also the first excited state. Due to these calculations the mechanism of the irreversible side reaction could be explained. | de |
