Abstract
English
This book contains one of the few long-term studies about young people and their integration into the world of grown-ups and into the economy. A school-class in north-western Switzerland is 2003 in it's last year. The pupils - often with a migration background - have to think about their ways into life as grown-up persons. They also have to ponder how to integrate into the economy. The anthropologist Nicholas Schaffner followed a group of these young people over a period of three years. He saw them grow up and make their first steps in working life. The transition from school to working life is as a reproduction process very important for society. In this book the young are not passiv, socially problematic or somehow deviant, they were rather considered as normal people in an everyday setting trying to reach the for them personally best rational solutions for a given problem. The book evaluates cultural phenomena of school, working life and free time and how a number of young people manage their integration into society as a fully responsible grown-up persons. How is the status of a grown-up constructed at the beginning of the 21th century in north-western Switzerland?

Diese Arbeit ist eine der wenigen
langfristigen Studien über jugendliche Integration in die
Arbeitswelt. Eine Schulklasse in der Nordwestschweiz stand 2003 im
letzten Schuljahr.
Erleidende, sondern aktiv Handelnde angesehen. Damit sollte der
kulturpessimistische Ansatz überwunden werden. Normale Menschen in
Jahrhunderts konstruiert, was
heisst es, Erwachsen zu werden?
