erbringen. | de |

dc.description.abstracteng | Multiple sclerosis is a chronic
inflammatory demyelinating disease of the CNS. The heterogeneity of
the disease is reflected in different immunopathological patterns.
Aim of the study is the examination of lymphocytes within the
inflammatory infiltration concerning heterogeneity and possible
different pathomechanisms. 71 biopsies of the brain and the spinal
cord of MS patients are analysed. B cells and plasma cells can be
detected sporadically in the lesions independent from the different
immunopathological patterns or the activity of the demyelinating
process. T lymphocytes seem to play a major role. Different
functions of T cells may dominate in different subtyps and
different lesion activities. Clinical aspects such as age of onset
and disease course seem to be independent from the composition of
the lymphocytes in the inflammatory infiltrate. Further studies are
needed to reveal pathogenesis of MS and the possibility for new
targets for treatment. | de |
