Abstract

English

As part of the study was to investigate whether the nephro-protective effect of endothelial progenitor cells can be enhanced by pretreatment of cells with melatonin. In animal experiments, the left kidney of experimental mice was exposed to a renal ischemia of 40 minutes. After ischemia the appropriate solution (corresponding to the respective group) was injected into the vessel of the contralateral kidney which was removed afterwards. Therefore the complete renal function has been taken over from the pre-damaged ischemic kidney. A statement on the renal function was made on the basis of creatinine in blood after two days. The renal damage was assessed microscopically in paraffin sections and evaluated semi-quantitatively. There are four groups studied, and the creatinine was compared to a control group. The animals of the first group was injected 50
