Impact of obsessive-compulsive behavior on the psychopathological profile of children with chronic tic disorder and attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder

dc.description.abstract	Die Studie untersucht den Einfluss komorbider Zwangsmerkmale auf die Psychopathologie von Kindern mit chronischen Ticstörungen und/oder Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-Hyperaktivitätsstörungen (ADHS). Wir erhoben die Psychopathologie von vier großen Patientengruppen (alleinige Tic-Störung (n=112), Tic+ADHS (n= 82), ADHS (n=129), Kontrollgruppe (n=144)) mittels der Child Behaviour Checklist. Es wurden drei Kovarianzanalysen durchgeführt, bei denen jeweils verschiedene Zwangsscores als Kovariaten dienten. Wir verglichen die Haupteffekte der Tic-Störung und der ADHS der Kovarianzanalysen mit denen der zuvor durchgeführten zwei-faktoriellen Varianzanalyse. Die Ergebnisse legen nahe, dass Zwangsmerkmale einen grossen Einfluss auf die Psychopathologie von Ticpatienten und einen geringeren Einfluss auf die ADHS-Symptomatik haben. Unsere Ergebnisse weisen darauf hin, dass eine optimale Therapieplanung alle Symptome und Probleme berücksichtigen sollte, da die stärkste Beeinträchtigung nicht immer durch die diagnostizierten Störungen verursacht werden muss.	de

dc.description.abstracteng	The study examines the impact of obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS) on the psychopathology of children with chronic tic disorders (CTD) and/or attention-deficit-hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). We assessed the psychopathology of four large patient groups without further psychiatric disorders (CTD (n=112), CTD+ADHD (n=82), ADHD (n=129), controls (n=144)) with the Child Behavior Checklist. Three analyses of covariance were conducted, in each one a different score measuring obsessive-compulsive symptoms served as covariate. We compared the main effects of the three analyses of covariance with those of the two-way analyses of variance, which were conducted before. The results indicate that OCS have a great impact on psychopathology associated with CTD and a slight impact on ADHD-related symptoms. Our results point out that optimal treatment planning should consider all symptoms and problems because children's main problems might not always be caused by the main diagnoses.	de
