| de |

dc.description.abstracteng | This dissertation sought to determine
whether structured exercise training improves exercise capacity and
diastolic function in patients with heart failure with preserved
ejection fraction. A total of 64 patients were prospectively
randomized to either supervised training (n=44) or usual care
(n=20). The primary endpoint was the change in peakVO2 after 3
months. Secondary endpoints were change in cardiac structure and
diastolic function. There were significant changes in peakVO2, as
well as in cardiac structure and diastolic function in the training
group compared with the control group. This leads to the conclusion
that exercise training in patients with heart failure with
preserved ejection fraction is a safe an effective way to improve
exercise capacity and diastolic function. | de |
