variabler Korrekturfaktor entwickelt, dessen bestandesindividueller
Wert durch einen auf Winkelmessungen basierenden Aggregationsindex
geschätzt wird. Die Eigenschaften dieses Indexes werden ausführlich
beschrieben.
| de |

dc.description.abstracteng | This dissertation presents the general
concept and specific application details of a permanent forest
inventory in which the forest stand is the reference unit for
resource assessment and planning. The stand-oriented approach
provides spatially explicit information which is essential for
optimizing silviculture and for timing harvesting operations. It
differs in principle from the region-oriented approach which
provides information about the forest resource on the landscape or
property level. An essential element within this concept is the
separate assessment of the remaining and removed stand.
Considerable savings of time and effort may be achieved if the time
intervals between successive inventories and the intensity of the
assessments are adapted to the stand-specific information needs.
Such stand-specific adaptation strategies are presented here. As
one possible option for assessment of the remaining stand the
“6-tree-sample” is proposed. In order to reduce the well-known bias
of this method in estimating the stem number and basal area per
hectar in stands with non-random distribution an approach is
presented, which uses a variable correction factor, whose stand
individual value depends on an angle-based aggregation index. The
properties of this measure are described in detail. With regard to
stand data update the continuous assessment of the harvest, known
as “thinning event assessment”, is especially important.
Furthermore, a thinning event assessment can increase the
effectiveness of harvesting operations and improve the information
flow from forest stand to client. In case the inventory of the
removed stand is not possible or reasonable, a method can be
applied which estimates the dbh-distribution of the removed tress
using the Weibull function. It is shown, that the concept of a
permanent forest inventory can be used as an effective mechanism
for self-control which supersedes measurements during the periodic
forest management planning. This will allow planning staff to
concentrate on other important tasks, such as monitoring and
planning at enterprise level. | de |
