Hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has therapeutic effects on climacteric complaints and a benefit on the skin. At the same time the risk of breast cancer and vascular diseases increases. This doctoral thesis presents the extract of Cimicifuga racemosa BNO 1055 / C001 differentiated in its subfractions as an alternative to the conventional HRT. It is already known that Cimicifuga racemosa may improve climacteric complaints and it is prove whether the effect on the the skin after treatment is compareable to HRT.
