Abstract

English

In this prospective, randomized pilot study the feasibility, safety and effectiveness of vibration training (every 2 days) for patients, who undergo an allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) during this training, was investigated. In the present thesis 26 patients were divided randomly into 2 groups: a vibration intervention group receiving conventional physiotherapy and additional vibration training and a control group only receiving conventional physiotherapy. Between these two groups the influence of the treatment on muscle strength, functional performance, QOL and clinical outcome was compared. . This pilot study showed that vibration training in compliance with the exclusion criteria in the context of allo-HSCT is safe, feasible and effective with a training participation of 83%. Despite significantly more frequent general physiotherapy in the control group (p = 0.005), the study showed a trend that vibration training had a greater influence on strengthen the leg strength (comparison of "hospitalization" with "release": eg control -15%, intervention +6.9% at 180 ° / s extension, p = 0, 07) in the isokinetic testing of the dominant leg extension and flexion as well as on muscular endurance. Increased endurance performance in the Six-Minute Walk Test compared with the control group was not achieved. In the EORTC QLQ C-30, a significant loss of quality of life (p = 0.04) and physical function (p = 0.02) was shown in the total cohort. However, a trend towards less burden of pain could be shown for the intervention group (p = 0.05).
