The thesis describes several projects exploring the molecular mechanisms of psychiatric disorders. First project studies the contribution of common variants of autism related synaptic genes to neuropsychiatric risk, as exemplified in schizophrenia. Another project studies D. melanogaster, lacking dnrxn1 and dnlgn2, as a plausible model for autism spectrum disorders. Third project explores the role of prostaglandins in the rapid cycling bipolar disorder.de
