Abstract
English
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the outcome of orthograde retreatment of apicected teeth with persisting apical periodontitis. Fifty-nine teeth surgically treated teeth were nonsurgically retreated and were followed for a period of 11 - 60 month by evaluation of the radiographs retrospectively. Clinical and radiographic assessment of retreatment showed that complete healing for all cases was 69,5% with an additional category of incomplete healing of 10,2%;20,3% failed. The favourable results of this study demonstrated that orthograde root canal retreatment is an alternative to surgical intervention or extraction of postsurgical failure.
