Dissertation on the extension of the programming language XL by concepts of multi-scaled modelling. This dissertation includes work on definitions of graph models and grammar for multiscale modelling, particularly in the fields of functional-structural plant and forest modelling. Ideas on the visualization and rendering of multi-level graph structures are discussed with the introduction of several novel algorithms.
