Abstract

English

High resolution 6D-analysis of kinematics in lumbar segment L3/L4. The measuring apparatus imitates physiological movements of the human body in axial rotation, flexion/extension and lateral bending. The position of the resulting force line of rotation and axial preload could be adjusted with regard to the anatomical structures. Especially segmental stiffness, furthermore ROM and position and alignment of IHA were recorded. The study was repeated after successive facet joint resection to demonstrate the influence of these structures on the biomechanics. The quality of joint guiding differs as a function of the applied force. Data illustrates a dependence of the position and movement of IHA of both the position of the preload and status of resection. As opposed to this the alignment of IHA is mainly influenced by the position of the preload. Segmental stiffness was likewise linked to the position of the preload. In axial rotation a non-linearity was shown if the preload was placed around 1 cm dorsal of the centre of the spinal canal, resulting in a loss of stability. The variance in data after joint resection indicates an alternating guidance of none, one or both facet joints depending on the posture of L3 referred to L4.
