Abstract
English
Statins, as lipid-lowering agents, were described to possess an anti-cancer potential. For this reason, in vitro effect of combined treatment by lovastatin and irradiation was explored in order to find a radiosensitizing or radioprotective effect. This was tested on various human tumour (ZMK-1, A549, MO59K, MO59J) and normal tissue cell lines (HUVEC, HaCaT, fibroblasts). Effect of combined treatment (irradiation-lovastatin-monoclonal antibodies) was examined as well using colony formation assays, viability assays, Western blot and reporter assays.
