dc.description.abstracteng | Cytochrome c oxidase (COX) is the terminal enzyme of the respiratory chain. Due to its multimeric nature, assembly and maturation requires the concerted action of over 20 assembly factors in yeast. COX is composed of both nuclear- and mitochondria-encoded protein subunits. Its catalytic core is formed by three mitochondria-encoded subunits (Cox1, Cox2 and Cox3) harboring essential prosthetic groups. This study analysed different stages during early cytochrome c oxidase assembly steps and extends the understanding of this process. | de |
