Human and nonhuman primates are able to plan and execute goal-directed behavior and flexibly respond to their surrounding stimuli. Their ability to adapt to changes in their environment is a crucial factor for their survival. Primates use their hands to reach to objects, grasp and manipulate them. Planning a goal-directed hand reaching movement towards an object is a distributed task that engages many cortical and subcortical areas in primate's brain, prior and during the reaching movement. This work addresses planning goal-directed reach movements in human and nonhuman primates. More specifically, the present thesis investigates different representations of spatial parameters, namely egocentric and allocentric, which are required for planning a reach movement towards an object.de
