Do novels like Inkheart, Twilight, Percy Jackson, The Hunger Games, or Ruby Red share specific genre characteristics with Harry Potter? Is there perhaps even a specific genre of post-Potter literature? This thesis discusses contemporary children’s literature and young adult fiction in terms of the following genre aspects: serials, fantasy, modern myth, postmodern literature, crossover literature, and multi addressing.
