Abstract
English
The following dissertation deals with issues concerning interaction and interpretation in russian forum threads and compares the findings with results and assumptions made for oral communication. Important questions are : How do people interact? What are characteristic traits? What are similarities with and differences from oral communication? What does a reader need to interpret an utterance correctly? Which cues are important? This dissertation will show that there are specific traits that differentiate interactions in forum threads from oral interactions. In order to answer the part of the questions concerning the interpretation of utterances, some experiments are made, that will show, that in most cases emoticons and other potential cues are not as important for interpretation as lexical cues and the context.
