Abstract

English

In a patient population of up to 24 patients, we were able to demonstrate a blood pressure-lowering effect through renal denervation after 6 months in therapy-refractory arterial hypertension. Furthermore,a renal denervation seems to have positive effects on the heart, blood vessels and subjective well-being. We could show a reduction of left ventricular hypertrophy and an improvement of left ventricular function with increased LVEF. This was also confirmed by laboratory chemistry (decrease of BNP content). There appears to be further positive effects on performance (significant increase in distance in 6-MWT, significant increase in maximum HF in LZ ECG) and on cardiac arrhythmia (significant decrease in extrasystoles). For the first time, subjective well-being was also analyzed as a partial aspect of the success of the therapy. It results in an improved quality of life and increased well-being.
Keywords: refractory hypertension; renal denervation
