Counselling women with a pregnancy conflict and as well as a migration background presents counsellors with language barriers and challenges in cross-cultural communication. Within the framework of a qualitative study, psychosocial and medical professionals from counselling centers in Lower Saxony were interviewed about their experiences. In addition to the problem of the language barrier, the importance of culturally sensitive counselling regarding the situation of women in their culture was emphasized. Language mediation by relatives and especially children in the counselling situation were named as one of the main problems.

Schwangerschaftskonfliktberatung bei Frauen mit Migrationshintergrund stellt BeraterInnen immer wieder vor große sprachliche und kulturelle Herausforderungen. Im Rahmen einer qualitativen Studie haben die AutorInnen dieses Beitrags BeraterInnen aus niedersächsischen Beratungsstellen zu ihren Erfahrungen befragt. Neben dem Problem der Sprachbarriere wurde die Bedeutung kultursensibler Beratung betont. Sprachmittlung durch Angehörige und insbesondere von Kindern in der Beratungssituation wurden als zentrale Probleme benannt.
