Abstract

English

Statements on mortality and appropriate events in a patient with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator are often the goal of investigations. However, predictive parameters for electrocardiogram intervals and specific T-wave morphologies have mostly only been described in a population without patients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator. In this study, 1158 patients were included who had an implantable cardioverter defibrillator implanted at the University Hospital in Goettingen between December 4th, 1989 and October 1st, 2010 and who also had at least one electrocardiogram written during the course. New specific parameters of T-wave morphology such as T-wave dispersion and total cosine of all angles between QRS and T-vectors were calculated for 708 patients. The result shows predictive variables for the endpoints shock event and mortality, created for a group of patients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator. Clinical variables and in particular special parameters of the T-wave morphology were included in these analyses. These results form the basis of further studies.
