Abstract

English

Iron-sulfur (Fe/S) clusters are omnipresent and are essential components in virtually all life forms due to their versatile structures and functions. Biological systems extensively employ Fe/S clusters, especially with rhombic [2Fe-2S] and cubane-type [4Fe-4S] cores for electron transfer, catalysis, etc. Studies on synthetic Fe/S complexes have provided deeper insight into their structures and functions. By comparison, asymmetrical Fe/S clusters are not well investigated. This thesis mainly focuses on establishing novel synthetic analogues for biological asymmetrical [2Fe-2S] and [4Fe-4S] clusters. A series novel of [2Fe-2S] and [4Fe-4S] clusters were synthesized and fully characterized, and their redox properties were investigated. The detailed research of these clusters deepened our understanding of asymmetrical Fe/S clusters.
Keywords: [2Fe-2S] clusters, [4Fe-4S] clusters, asymmetrical Fe/S clusters; [4Fe-4S] clusters; asymmetrical Fe/S clusters
