Objective: Patients who were seen with recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) in a - as far as known - unique period of nearly 70 years in the University medical center Göttingen (UMG) and compare their disease with current literature. Aim was to figure out accordances and differences between this collective and literature of this rare disease. RRP is a rare disease mostly located in larynx and often caused by different types of papillomavirus (HPV). Method: In this retrospective study datas from n=77 patients with RRP were compared to each other and current literature. n=70 had an adult-onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (AORRP) and n=7 a juvenile-onset recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (JORRP). As many details as possible were evaluated - for example age, number of papillomas therapy and in this content time span between a new papilloma etc. Result: In many points the results of this study agree to current literature but in some points it disagrees. New insights were not seen. Conclusion: This study was limited by its retrospective design and small number of patients especially with JORRP. Results have to be seen critically. RRP is still a rare disease with no cure at the moment and needs further research.de
