Abstract
English
An examination procedure for the detection of breast cancer (“MARIA”) is presented, which has been in the testing and optimization phase for years. In an intra-individual comparative study, 109 consecutive women who were scheduled to undergo breast MRI for medical reasons were examined in advance using the MARIA system between July and December 2020. A major reason for the unsatisfactory results of the MARIA system is obviously that the procedure is based on the different impedance between the carcinoma and the surrounding tissue, assuming fat as the surrounding tissue and a high water content of malignant tumors. These conditions are obviously not fulfilled due to the high variability of both the carcinoma in the tissue and the healthy surrounding tissue.
