Abstract
English
The COVID-19 pandemic substantially increased psychosocial stress, yet little is known about its effects on individuals with pre-existing psychiatric disorders. This dissertation compared patients with depression (n=41) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD; n=15) using data from the COVID study at the University Medical Center Göttingen. Standardized interviews assessed psychosocial burden (GoPSI), adjustment disorder (ADNM-20), and resilience before the pandemic, during the first lockdown, and during the second lockdown. Both groups showed significantly higher burden and lower resilience in the first lockdown, with partial improvements thereafter. Quantitative outcomes did not differ significantly, but qualitative reports highlighted distinct challenges: loneliness in depression and disrupted routines in ASD.
