Abstract

English

Primitivism had a great influence the developemt of modern art. Indian painting is little known in Germany. Be it traditional paintings or modern painting in particular, have so far only made their way into German ethnological studies Museums done. In art historical institutions, this form of Art has not yet been recorded. This work takes a look at four different styles in art - cubism, surrealism, expressionism and abstract ecpressionism to show how these forms of art have been influenced by primitive objects and had their influence back on moden indian art.
