Computer-aided therapy design is an intricate endeavor intertwining all scales from molecules to cells and tissues to organs. Changing one such component in a living system can have far-reaching effects, diffcult to estimate, which some times only unfold after months or even years. Thus, a detailed understanding of the key players is crucial for appropriate diagnosis and treatment planning. Concerning heart failure patients, scarred tissue shows adverse effects for the electrophysiology, electromechanics, and hemodynamics. In this work, I present the orthotropic nature of myocardium, what implications it has for the cardiac cycle, and how the arising structural mechanics can be captured in quasi-stationary simulations using constitutive modeling. The results are combined with modern technology of artificial heart muscle engineering to research optimal patch design for cardiac wound healing.de
