Abstract

English

In the thesis, we were interested to explore the impact of acute and chronic serotonergic and noradrenergic receptor activity enhancement on functional plasticity of the human brain. Furthermore, we investigated the acute and chronic effects of noradrenaline on cortical excitability in humans. The first chapter introduces basic mechanisms relevant for understanding the studies included in the thesis. The second chapter consists of the papers presenting the research results. The concluding chapter summarizes the main results of the studies and offers an outlook to future research in the field.
Keywords: Neuroplasticity; Cortical excitability; Serotonin; Noradrenaline
