The objective of the current thesis is to evaluate the role of alpha band activity and neural trial-to-trial variability in conscious visual perception and their relationship to each other. We investigate these measures in electrophysiological recordings of monkeys as well as the electroencephalogram (EEG) of humans using a generalized flash suppression (GFS) paradigm.
