Bodenhorizont erhobenen Retentionskurve verglichen.
| de |

dc.description.abstracteng | A soil consists, simplified viewed, of matrix
(mineral grains) and pores. The pores are filled with
water or air, and they represent an extremely complex
network, which has a great importance for transport
processes. This structure can be regarded as
self-similar within natural limits, and its dimension
can be measured. For the work presented, thin sections
from the Bt-horizon of a Luvisol were prepared. Images
for different magnifications and resolutions,
respectively, were taken with light and scanning
electron microscopy. The image analysis measurements
were performed using the system KS400 (ZeissVision),
which allows the application of user-defined macros.
The fractal dimension of the soil-pore interface (DS)
as obtained in digital images was measured with the box
counting and the dilation procedure. As the fractal
dimension of a line was measured within a plain,
1<DS<2. The higher the values are, the higher is
the complexity of the image. The values obtained are
quite high, that is up to DS =1.935, which nearly
approaches the Euclidean Dimension 2. With increasing
magnification and resolution, respectively, DS is
decreasing to DS =1.563. This finding can be
interpreted as the difference between texture and
structure. A fitting of two straight lines for the
log-log plot of the adjusted data pool from all
magnifications yields a crossover point for structuring
elements of sizes of 5-17 µm. This corresponds to pore
diameters, which can be derived from the main particle
size of coarse silt (20-63 µm). The pore size
distribution (psd) was measured with the morphological
opening procedure. It was obtained from 0.1-1000 µm and
shows a maximum at 1 µm diameter. From soil cores of
the same horizon, retention and conductivity curves
were obtained as well as the proportion of phases. The
cumulated psd was compared with the retention curve.
For pores smaller than about 20 µm, the retention curve
shows a remarkable deviation from the pore size
distribution indicating a higher amount of small pores.
Possible reasons for this behaviour are discussed, as
well as the relevance of the dimensions measured with
image analysis for fitting parameters of the retention
curve. | de |
