| de |

dc.description.abstracteng | The present thesis introduces, verifies and
validates a numerical simulation method based on an
overset grid (or Chimera) technique that allows to
simulate the generation and transport of realistic air
vortices and to model a subsequent vortex-airfoil
interaction. The simulation method is additionally
performed in combination with Detached Eddy Simulation
(DES), which is a populur nonzonal hybrid RANS/LES
turbulence model. The principle of DES is to compute
attached boundary layers in RANS-mode and switch to LES
further away from the wall of a solid body.
Several testcases of varying complexity using the
Chimera approach, DES and the combination of both have
been performed in the framework of the DLR TAU-Code,
which is a solver for compressible flow. Overall, the
approach is shown to be a powerful and robust numerical
tool to predict the stall behaviour of an airfoil
caused by vortex-airfoil interaction. | de |
