Abstract

English

In medicine uracil derivatives are already used as antiviral and cytostatic drugs. In this study new uracil derivatives were tested to evaluate their cytostatic and pro-apoptotic potential. Nitrovinyl- and Bromoethynyluracil, used in cell culture on leukaemia/lymphoma cells as und colon cancer cells, showed cytotoxic and pro-apoptotic effects. It could be shown that additional substituents which increased the lipophilic character enhanced cytostatic and pro-apoptotic effects. Moreover it was proven that substances with a free thiol group have a cyto-protective effect under treatment with the new uracil derivatives. Additionally the intracellular content of glutathione as well as the changes under treatment have been evaluated.
